HTC One E8 Android 4.4.3 Kitkat Update - Official, Custom ROMs

HTC has recently unveiled One E8 smartphone a clone of flagship HTC One E8 smartphone. No doubt that HTC One E8 is capable of handling the Android 4.4.3 Kitkat update officially and in this guide we go through instructions on how to download Android 4.4.3 update to One E8 smartphone.

HTC One E8 Android 4.4.3 Official Update

You can go through Settings > About phone and download it officially. For some HTC One E8 phone you might get update notification from your carrier but always you can force check for software update by going through the below process -
  • Go to Settings and then tap on About Phone.
  • Now tap on Software Update and hit Check Now.
  • If update available click on Download and then later hit Install.
  • Your phone will be restarted in between the process.
Manual Update

If no official update you can update your device manually as well. We will be going through update instructions in this guide but before that some pre upgrade requirements.
  • You will also have to root your HTC One E8 to prepare it for Android 4.4.3 Kitkat upgrade.
  • Just before beginning to upgrade your HTC One E8 to Android 4.4.3 Kitkat don’t forget to backup your information, as contacts, text messages and the apps installed from Google Play Store who maybe lost when the installation finishes.
  • USB debugging should be enabled on your device.
  • Your phone should have ClockWorkMod Recovery Installed.

Now let’s see how to update HTC One E8 to Android 4.4 Kitkat -
  1. Download HTC One E8 Android 4.4 Firmware package to your PC first.
  2. Install the ROM Manager on your HTC One E8. Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery.
  3. Connect your HTC One E8 to your PC employing the USB information cable. Copy the “HTC One E8_4.4.3” file you downloaded to the SD memory card.
  4. Restart your device in the recovery mode using ROM Manager. As soon as in Recovery Mode, go to ROM Manager and select backup / restore to back-up your information.
  5. From the Recovery Menu do a total data erase (including Delvik Cache).
  6. When completed, Go back to Recovery Menu and choose Flash ROM from SD Card. Navigate the location you copied the ”HTC One E8_4.4.3” file and follow the directions for installing Android 4.4.3 Kitkat on your HTC One E8.
  7. Once done hit "Reboot system now" to boot your device normally.
As soon as the installation is over, just reboot your HTC One E8 device, and here you go, you’ve just upgraded it to the new Android 4.4.3 Kitkat.
